WHAT IS A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST?

Speech-language pathologists are communication experts who complete extensive clinical and academic training. Many speech-language pathologists specialize in a certain aspect of communication. Here, at The Learning Doctor, our specialty is in language development and its connection to learning.

I'M NOT SURE WHY MY STUDENT IS STRUGGLING, BUT SOMETHING FEELS OFF. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Knowledge is power! Reach out to our clinic to figure out if a screening or assessment is right for your child. Many students that we see have subtle but significant difficulties. It can take a refined eye to determine what obstacles a child is facing. Once you are aware of your child's areas of growth, we can formulate an intervention plan that aligns with their needs.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM A TRADITIONAL TUTOR?

Many traditional tutors work with a student on their school curriculum and assigned homework. At The Learning Doctor, our goal is to help your child close the gap. Meaning, our clinic focuses on the foundational skills that are impacting your child's ability to reach their full potential and succeed independently. We strongly believe in collaboration and will do all that we can to work with your child's teacher and other care providers to ensure our work aligns with their academic and developmental needs.

DO YOU FOLLOW SPECIFIC INTERVENTION PROGRAMS?

We believe in customizing learning plans to match the strengths and weaknesses of our students. As we work with your learner, we will continuously adjust our content and teaching methods to match their specific needs. Our clinical team is well-versed in a multitude of evidence-based treatment programs. Thus, we are able to combine elements from various programs to create intervention materials that best match a specific child's challenges and strengths.

MY CHILD DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR SPEECH, LANGUAGE, OR LEARNING SUPPORT AT SCHOOL. DOES THAT MEAN THERE IS NOTHING WRONG?

No! School services are restricted by specific laws and standards. As a private provider, we are able to provide services for language and learning difficulties that may not qualify for services in a school setting.

MY CHILD DOES NOT HAVE A SPECIFIC DIAGNOSIS, BUT THEY ARE STRUGGLING. CAN YOU HELP?

We do not require a specific diagnosis for intervention. We provide preventative work for at-risk students as well as enrichment programs.

IS INTERVENTION VIRTUAL OR IN-PERSON?

We provide in-person and virtual options. While creating an intervention plan, we will work together to create a program that works best for your child and their individual needs.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

At this time, we do not bill insurance directly. However, we are happy to provide invoices for you to share with your insurance companies. Please contact the clinic directly to learn more about this process.
